The Woman Who Saw Everyone ~ Poetic Short Story

The Woman Who Saw Everyone by Joe Reid Kirby III

There was once the birth of a golden girl,

With broccoli hair,

& eagle eyes …

The energy she brought to a room gave rise to every heart in it …

For her eyes to see yours for even a second,

Meant the world & everything in it …

The gift of her presence brought absence to every hurt ever known …

Simply her recognizing the existence of you was the greatest love you’d ever been shown …

She quickly blossomed into an attractive woman,

Though not so naively attracted …

She knew where she was trying to go,

& so was not easily distracted …

Though every extraordinary act of nature often gathered her attention …

With a span the size of this entire moment,

Ever present to the gift of today …

Mentioning only the words related to now,

In the sweetest,

Most heart-warming way …

& she’d see you …

Yes, you …

In the corner …

Over there …

You too …

The 3 persons …

With black, blond, & blue hair …

You with the body art & bold piercings …

You who went to college or chose to pursue a career …

You who paints art or cooks great food …

You who cares about everything …

Even you who doesn’t give a care …

She saw you brave spirit in the wheelchair …

& you superstar never known …

You hardworking mother of many …

You …

The beautiful one worried about her weight …

You the lonely poet of the night …

Yes, you the handsome intellectual afraid to date …

Her life likely wouldn’t be the same,

If she hadn’t seen you small spirit of shame …

But she lifted you right back up to your true size,

After simply being curious of your name …

& you, the father who defines success as the number of laughs he can summon from the bellies of his seeds …

& you who finds it impossible to laugh at all …

You also, fellow animal-lover determined to meet the need of every breed …

You, who fights for the rights of humans …

& you, succumbing to an aggressive ailment or disease …

She sees …

& if she sees you, you’re healed …

Where you see a block,

She points out your opportunity to build …

Where you see an end,

She reveals a new beginning …

Where you’re convinced that you can’t,

She inspires a number of reasons why you can …

Her conscious insights awaken subconscious instincts …

& her selfless compliments add self-confidence …

Her name was Uoy …

& all she ever had to say was, “Hi.”
